How valuable are Java certifications?

CERTIFICATIONS ARE VALUABLE!!

The certifications are added advantage in your career. I want to share my experience here, I have worked on several IT companies during my 13 years of experience. There are few companies which ask for the certifications and give them preferences. For example, HCL had a separate section for certifications while recruiting the Java developers. Not all the companies have the same importance for the certification.

Most of the services based IT companies gives more value to the certifications. They have the certification is one of the eligible criteria for the promotions, etc. Infosys, Wipro like companies have their own internal Java certifications which are similar to the external exams. If you have any external exams, that will give you more advantage.

Even they have the schemes like “You Pass We Pay” for encouraging people to write the external certifications.

Look at this mail from one of the Indian IT company:

IF YOU PASS ANY CERTIFICATION WITH KNOWLEDGE, YOU WILL BE RECOGNIZED BY SOME ONE DEFINITELY!!

So, you focus on gaining the knowledge and write the certifications. Merely passing the certifications will not help you.

WHICH JAVA CERTIFICATIONS!!

Now your confusion may be which of the Java certification I have to pass. Most commonly, OCAJP and OCPJP are written by everyone. Have this two certifications minimum, you can write more certifications if you want.
